NOVEMBER 2025– There’s nothing quite like the feeling of gratitude, community, and shared joy that fills the halls of Mainspring Academy each year during our Annual Thanksgiving Feast Day-and this year was no exception. Our amazing Parent Action Committee (PAC) once again went above and beyond to make the day extra special. From picking up and setting up the food to serving every plate with care, they helped create a warm, welcoming environment for our students and their families. The delicious meal was catered by Bob Evans, and students had the chance to sit down, relax, and enjoy a festive lunch surrounded by the people who love and support them most. Throughout the event, it was clear that this gathering was about more than just food. It was about connection – between families, staff, and students – and the shared moments that build the heart of our school community.
A special shoutout goes to Ms. Jilltora’s class, who won this year’s Turkey Disguise Contest with their incredibly creative and hilarious Grinch Turkey! The creativity and excitement from all of our classrooms made it such a fun and memorable part of the celebration. We’re so thankful for our families, our students, and our PAC for bringing this event to life. It’s moments like these that remind us how much love and laughter fill our school – not just during the holidays, but all year long.

💙💚MAINSPRING AWARDED GRANTS FOR UPGRADED SENSORY ROOM
Mainspring Academy is excited to share that we’ve received generous support from the Robert and Toni Bader Charitable Foundation and the HEAL Foundation to help create a brand-new, durable, commercial-grade sensory room for our students!
Thanks to this funding, the space will feature a combination of calming lighting and sound tools, movement and seating supports, and hands-on sensory activities that help meet the needs of students who benefit from sensory input throughout the day. These additions are designed to promote regulation, focus, and emotional safety – especially for learners who may struggle with overstimulation, transitions, or anxiety. Grant funds will support the installation of a full sensory room package that supports visual and auditory calming, with additional equipment for physical, tactile, and vestibular input. Together, these grants are allowing us to create a dedicated environment that empowers students to self-regulate, reset, and return to the classroom ready to engage.
We are so thankful for this support and the lasting impact it will have on children with intellectual and developmental differences at Mainspring Academy!

DIFFERENCE MAKERS – Honoring Trailblazers this Month
Universal Human Rights Month: This month honors the rights of all people to be treated with dignity and respect. It’s a powerful reminder that students with disabilities deserve access, voice, and opportunity – in the classroom and beyond.
International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3rd): A global day to promote understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights, and well-being of people with disabilities. This day highlights the importance of inclusive education, accessibility, and celebrating neurodiversity.
Human Rights Day (December 10th): Commemorates the signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. For students with disabilities, it affirms their right to an education that respects their needs, supports their development, and values their unique perspectives.
These milestones encourage our students to see their challenges not as limitations, but as strengths that contribute to a more inclusive and compassionate world!
